During our five-month stay in Albania, we lived in Tirana, Durrës, Vlorë, Sarandë, and Berat, and also took a road trip across Albania to Shkodër, Korçë, and Gjirokastër. 💡 Pro tip from Victoria & Garett: Hotels along Albania’s Riviera fill up fast in July and August. We’d recommend booking at least 2–3 months ahead for peak summer. Shoulder season (May–June and September) is our sweet spot — perfect weather, fewer crowds, better prices, and the water is still absolutely gorgeous. 🌿

Inland, you’ve got UNESCO World Heritage cities like Berat (the “City of a Thousand Windows”) and Gjirokastra, plus jaw-dropping hiking in the Albanian Alps up north. And the capital, Tirana? Most visitors fly into Tirana Nënë Tereza Airport (TIA) or arrive overland from Montenegro, North Macedonia, or Greece. Transport is affordable, locals are genuinely welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious. Albania completely won us over. 🥘
