When people travel, I think they’re always looking to go where the “locals”go. Mostly because they trust that the locals have already been through the trial and error and finding a local spot takes away some of the risk of picking a bad place.
I don’t go to the Napa/Sonoma area all that often, but when I do, I make sure to visit my favorite spot. V.Sattui Winery in St. Helena. I visit this winery pretty much every time I go to wine country.
They’re not experts in making every kind of wine, but they have a few wonderful picks, and a great ambiance with outdoors space, They have picnic tables, food, and plenty of space to lay down a blanket and enjoy the great weather. Most importantly, V.Sattui wines are only directly through the winery so if you take a few bottles home you know you’re not walking away with something you can get at the local liquor store.
Here is my list of favorite wines from V.Sattui. Bottoms up!
Gamay Rouge – Its sweet and refreshing. I buy a bottle and drink this at the winery along with some Oysters, if they have their BBQ fired up.
Dry Reisling – I’m happy to bring this home with me by the case. This makes the perfect pair with my spicy cuisine.
Madeira – Everyone has to have dessert after a good meal right?
